Review of The Briggs "Come All You Madmen"

I recently got my hands on The Briggs new album "Come all you madmen" and this is my conclusion on it.

I'll be honest with you, when I was first handed this record all that came to mind was "here we go again, yet another drunken Irish rip-off band." That's pretty much what you have here; an L.A based Dropkick Murphy's. Not that any of what I just said is bad; it's just not unique either.

To be honest, what you really have here is Sideonedummy's return to Florida based Against Me's "New Wave." The two albums seem to run neck and neck in over all tone and musical styling and LaRocca's vocals seem to hold a close fit to Against Me! vocalist Tom Gabel; but with more Dropkick/Flogging Molly style flare.

In all fairness, I feel strongly that The Briggs came through on every single goal they set out to accomplish with this record. They put out an upbeat well tempo-ed album guaranteed to get your fist in the air, your heart pounding and a smile on your face.

For these reasons alone this album has yet to leave my play list.

This record is hardly a runner for album of the year but it sticks with you all the same.

For fans of:
Dropkick Murphys
Flogging Molly
Bad Religion
Against Me!

Recommended Tracks:
Mad Men
Bloody Minds
Charge into the sun
Oblivion
Molly

Would I recommend this album:

Yes, highly. The album is upbeat and well tracked out. The album seems to flow well from one track to the next and with a total play time of just over 35 minuets it is very much so worth the 14 dollar price tag.
